Christmas is around the corner and lets be honest, the season has been bursting with shiny, jolly, candy cane colored holiday cheer since Halloween. At least that’s when we started watching made for TV Christmas movies at my house. I might even have snuck one or two in on Netflix in July. Yes, I know it’s gauche to admit that. What of it.
I dig the holidays. I dig health and fitness, and the holidays. The two are not mutually exclusive.
“Blasphemy!” you say.
I say, “Nay”.
The holiday’s are about experience and connection. No…Really. Food plays a role in enhancing those feelings, but really a much smaller one than we’ve been conditioned to believe. Gifts also play a role in enhancing those feelings, but chances are the most memorable holiday moments will be the adventures you share. There are some seriously entertaining events going one during the holiday season and I don’t just mean the families annual Christmas food fight at the dinner table. You can find amazing festivities and events in your own backyard and it’s as easy as cozying up to your google browser, but tis the season, so let share a few favorites this week shall we?
At http://www.pickyourownchristmastree.org/ you can find a holiday destination for every state. Nothing says “super fun outing” like all of that piney goodness and a few sharp cutting/hacking implements.
Ever chopped down your own Christmas tree? Nah, me neither, but one of these days I’m gonna drag my nearest and dearest along for the frost bitten ride. They’ll thank me eventually or at least laugh at the photos. Did I mention sleigh rides were also involved at most of these place? I can’t even. Not only will you have and share one of those magical, hilarious, charming, festive memories, but as a bonus you also might get in a pretty decent workout what with the trapsing and the cutting and the lugging and all. Plus, you’ll be supporting all of the oxygen creating eco friendly goodness along the way. Pretty sure that’s a win all the way around.
